Dear UCC Colleagues and Friends,
On this series of wonderful spring days, I’m reminded of the beauty and inestimable worth of God’s great gift of creation.
As an expression of our covenant with God, with future generations and with all of creation, here are just a few suggestions for action and resources:
WATCH THIS:
Here’s a link to an article on How Faith Leaders Can Tell the Story of Climate Change as an Opportunity for the Church. The article features a 4 ½ minute video which Tiffany Vail made (with a lot of help from Kelly Gallagher (who in a previous life was a filmmaker)). The video, “Making Church Relevant in a Climate Change World” offers some guidance for pastors and churches about how to engage the climate issue.
CONSIDER SIGNING THIS:
If you are clergy, join me in signing the Massachusetts Interfaith Call for Carbon Pricing! If you are a layperson, urge your pastor to join me in signing this call to put a price on carbon.
BE AWARE OF THIS:
UCC activists all over America are joining a global wave of action for climate known as BreakFree2016. Read this article or click here to learn about the Albany NY action tomorrow.
PLANNING FOR SEPTEMBER:
Consider embracing what many Episcopal churches are doing in September and make the 5 Sundays leading up to St. Francis Day a Season of Creation. Click here to learn what Episcopal Churches in Western Mass are doing. Click here for ecumenical resources that would help your church engage the Season of Creation.
With gratitude for all the ways you minister in and on behalf of God’s creation,
Jim Antal
Mass Conference UCC Minister and President
