Faith Formation & Youth Ministry for All

Faith Formation & Youth Ministry for All

Share
The classes offered through the Faith Formation Leadership Training Program are open to ANYONE — lay persons, church staff persons, youth ministry leaders, authorized ministers — who want to further their education and understanding about the Bible, theology, faith formation for all ages, and Christian practices in the United Church of Christ. You are never too old to expand your knowledge and experience in the Christian faith!

Five of the ten classes are offered this program year:

Faith Formation 101 — Practices for a Sustainable Ministry with Karen Ziel, CMCE explores the nuts and bolts of organizing and implementing faith formation programs in the local church; recruiting, nurturing, and supporting volunteers; leadership skills, and working on a church staff.

Engaging Our Sacred Scripture’s Story with Rev. Don Remick is an overview of the formation, contents, structure, and flow of the Bible.

Serving Together — Mission for All Ages with Rev. June Cooper explores the differences between charity and justice from biblical and developmental perspectives in light of offering mission and service opportunities for children, youth, families, and the congregation.

Youth Ministry 101 — Practices for a Sustainable Ministry with Rev. Dave and Becky Stambaugh explores the nuts and bolts alongside the theological foundations of organizing and implementing youth ministry programs in the local church, recruiting, nurturing, and supporting volunteers, leadership skills, and working on a church staff.

Exploring the United Church of Christ — Our History, Our Beliefs, Our Identity with Rev. Jonathan New is an overview of the birth, development, structure, beliefs, values, and ethos of the United Church of Christ. (Note: This class does not meet UCC ordination requirements.)

Visit our Faith Formation Leadership Training Program webpage for dates, locations, and to register for onsite or video conferenced class sessions.

We offer a rolling registration so you can jump into the program at anytime. Classes are offered “a la carte,” so if there are only one or two classes that interest you, you are welcome to take only what you need.

Why should faith formation leaders become trained and certified?
  • Certification serves as a validation of your knowledge and experience as an educator in the Church.
  • You acquire access to a support system of peers and colleagues in ministry.
  • You gain access to best practices and resources for faith-forming ministries.
  • You join other lay persons and church educators from southern New England in a spirit of learning, faith-building, and friendship.
  • The Certificate will indicate that the faith formation leader has achieved a level of proficiency through knowledge, experience, and training.

We hope you will join us in this life-giving ministry!
