Clergy, Environmental Activists Invited to Sign Letter

Share
Three months ago, I attended an unprecedented gathering of Massachusetts religious leaders and climate scientists to discuss the shared imperative to address the climate crisis and to look for ways to collaborate.  It was convened by Cardinal Sean O'Malley.

The first initiative to emerge from this exciting meeting is the release of a Faith and Science Joint Appeal for Climate Action

I invite clergy as well as other lay-leaders who are part of a congregation’s green team to sign this appeal.  You may add your name here: http://whrc.org/joint-appeal/

Please do not share the Joint Appeal publicly or on social media until after the May 23 press conference.

I will join the Cardinal at a press conference to announce this Joint Appeal on Wednesday, May 23 at 2 PM — the eve of the third anniversary of Laudato Si’, Pope Francis’ inspiring encyclical on caring for creation.  I hope you will sign the Joint Appeal as soon as possible and no later than May 21.  The press conference will be held at the Pastoral Center of the Archdiocese of Boston, 66 Brooks Drive, Braintree.  All signatories are warmly invited to attend.  It would be great to have strong UCC presence at this press conference.

Thank you for all that you do on behalf of climate justice to preserve God’s great gift of creation.
