A Christmas Prayer to Last Throughout the New Year
CAUCE Reflects December 2018

With Christmas only days away, many of us are frantic with “to do” lists! Each year I vow that next year will be different; I will shop and wrap well in advance of Dec. 1st so I can wholly participate in the mystery and magic of the season, well maybe next year (sigh).
As I was trying to land on a suitable topic to share for this posting I came across a Christmas card I received last year, perhaps Divine intervention. This card touched me so deeply that I would like to share it with you:
A Christmas Wish
May we break down boundaries, tear down walls and build on the foundations of goodness inside each of us.
May we look past differences, gain understanding, and embrace acceptance.
May we reach out to each other rather than resist.
May we be better stewards of the earth, protecting, nurturing and replenishing the beauty of nature. May we practice gratitude for all we have, rather than complain about our needs.
May we seek cures for the sick, help for the hungry, and love for the lonely.
May we share our talents, give our time, and teach our children.
May we hold hope for the future very tenderly in our hearts.
And may we love with our whole hearts, for that’s the only way to love.

Not only do these words make a beautiful Christmas prayer but as we turn our attention to the New Year and new beginnings these are wise words to enact each day.
May your heart be filled with the Spirit of Christmas to last throughout the New Year. Shalom!
