Imagine the power, therefore, of hundreds of voices joining together to sing God praise. That will be our experience when the Conferences of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island gather together in June. The congregations of southern New England will celebrate our shared faith on June 16th and 17th as the Hartford Convention Center is transformed into a place of worship. The miles that separate us on a daily basis will be put aside as we come together for worship and work.
Worship can touch our weary souls as we immerse ourselves in music and listen to the inspiring words of gifted preachers. The differences that may exist between our congregations and ourselves can be put aside as all of us accept God's invitation to the table. The noise and busy-ness of our daily lives can briefly be put on hold as we pause to reflect, to worship, and to pray together.
The beautiful Convention Center offers a sun-lit venue with surprisingly lovely views of the Connecticut River and downtown Hartford. As you ascend the escalators (or ride in the elevator), you might have the sense you are being lifted, at least momentarily, away from the everyday stress of your crowded schedule.
For a short time, anyway, we will be able to worship and learn, plan and praise. We are setting aside time to be the church, together.
Plan now to attend the Joint Annual Meeting of our Conferences. Let us lift up our voices and sing to God!
