Everything your church wants to accomplish: great Christian education; inspirational worship; effective outreach to the community and the world; caring for your members and building up the fellowship of the body relies on successful stewardship. Successful stewardship results from investing in the development of your stewardship leaders, clergy and lay.
It can be difficult to recruit and retain members of your church stewardship team. If this is true for your church, then this is my advice: Bring the team to “Liberating Generosity” sponsored by the Northeast Ecumenical Stewardship Council. It will be held on Friday, March 15, to Saturday, March 16, at the Holiday Inn in Boxborough. There will be no better opportunity to energize, inspire and equip your stewardship team to be enthusiastic promoters of generosity in your congregation!
This event combines inspiring keynote presentations by Rev. Mike Piazza of the Center for Progressive Renewal and a full day of workshops on Saturday.
On Friday afternoon there are two special extended workshops:
- The Problem of Money in the Church – A workshop for clergy: Many clergy are hesitant to speak about money matters and the church. This avoidance gives the message that Christ had nothing to say about money matters. This workshop challenges clergy to face the issues related to money and abundance. Leaders: Philip & Janet Jamieson, authors of Ministry and Money: A Practical Guide for Pastors.
- Unleashing the Power of Gratitude: Living the Life of Generosity – A workshop for the laity: Unleashing the spiritual gift of generosity in ourselves and others is foundational for our worship communities. Explore one’s journey and the scriptures which have shaped us as stewards. Discover God’s generosity. Leaders: The Rev. E. Angela Emerson, Minister of Stewardship Development, Episcopal Diocese of Vermont, and Lisa Meeder Turnbull, Stewardship Consultant for the Episcopal Diocese of Maine.
