2. Climate Revival – April 27, 2013 10am Boston, MA macucc.org/climaterevival Please encourage people to like the event on Facebook too!
This is going to be a BIG EVENT! Come together for an inspirational day of preaching, worship, prayers, and music as we celebrate the splendor of Creation, mourn its desecration, and advocate for restoration and renewal. Led by national and international religious leaders, we will call upon the Holy Spirit as we rise up to stabilize the climate and to create a better future. Churches will have an opportunity to participate in an informational fair about their environmental work.
Preachers and participants include (among others):
•Geoffrey Black, General Minister and President of the United Church of Christ
•Katharine Jefferts Schori, Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church
•Desmond Tutu, Archbishop Emeritus South Africa (video)
•Bill McKibben, author and environmentalist (Skype or video)
We will begin at 10 a.m. at Old South Church in Copley Square, Boston, transition through lunch and a press conference, reconvene at Trinity Episcopal Church, and at 3 p.m. transition outdoors to Copley Square for a youth and young adult rally led by campus ministers and students.
We hope that congregations will consider sending a contingent. It will be a great opportunity to learn what other congregations are doing to uphold God’s creation.

5. Forward on Climate - the largest climate rally in history – February 17, 2013 – the National Mall, Washington DC www.350.org/Feb17
This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity that will bring to Washington DC tens of thousands of people at a time when President Obama will be setting his second term agenda. Let’s make sure that the first environmental action of his second term is to reject the Keystone XL pipeline. Crippling drought. Devastating wildfires. Superstorm Sandy. Climate has come home – and the American people get it. Make sure Obama’s actions reflect his moving words at his Inaugural Address.
6. Divestment from Fossil Fuels – UCC resolution is beginning to gain support across other Conferences… http://www.macucc.org/news/detail/203
You may have seen the excellent COVER article in the January 9, 2013 Christian Century Magazine by Bill McKibben in which he lifts up the recent vote of the Mass Conference UCC Board of Directors as exemplary and leading the way! http://www.christiancentury.org/article/2012-12/playing-offense You can find the resolution here: macucc.org/divest AND what’s really exciting is that other Conferences are joining as co-sponsors of this UCC resolution, and other denominations are advancing their own similar resolutions.
THANKS FOR ALL YOU DO IN RECOGNITION THAT THE EARTH IS THE LORD’S!
