Dear friend,
As committed advocates you know that voter suppression is shaping up to be a major issue as people head to the polls. We are already hearing stories about misleading voting information being circulated, of people gearing up to be election challengers, and of states signing their more restrictive voting legislation into place right before the election. There are many ways to protect our right to vote, from familiarizing yourself and your congregation with voter ID laws in your state, to volunteering as a poll watcher.
We’ve got a whole list of ideas compiled – Will you join us in combating voter suppression?
Our last pre-election 'Our Faith Our Vote' webinar will take place on October 29, at 1 pm EST. We will be breaking down important election issues such as the federal budget, military spending in Afghanistan, and ballot initiatives related to abortion. Our speakers will be UCC policy experts Edie Rasell and Michael Neuroth, as well as Rob Keithan, the Director of Public Policy for the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice.
You can find more information and register for the webinar on the Our Faith Our Vote website.
Stay tuned next week for our last pre-election Our Faith Our Vote message. We’re still looking for photos and stories on congregations engaging in the election as well, so let us know about the work your congregation is doing!
In Solidarity,
The Our Faith Our Vote Team
