Dear Pastor,

Did you know that we, the Massachusetts Conference, UCC, have new church start congregations in Jamaica Plain, Mashpee, Lawrence, Lowell, Middleton, Everett, Worcester, Southbridge, and soon Haverhill? Gathering people to launch a new church start is not easy work and it needs to be surrounded with prayer. And that is where you come in.

The Commission for Evangelism and Congregational Vitality is asking each pastor to name one person in their congregation who has a gift of prayer and would be willing to pray for our new church starts on a regular basis. We would put all the names and emails in a New Church Start Prayer Network. Then when a new church start pastor was having an event in his/her church, or a mission effort, or was out meeting new people, he or she could simply write a brief email and ask the Network to very specifically pray. And thus with one email, we could have people all over the Conference praying.

In addition, the folks on the prayer network will be hearing about some of the best practices and experiments in church vitality. 

So please ask someone in your church to be part of this network, and send the person's name and email address along with your church name and town to: methotk@macucc.org.  Use the subject line: 'Prayer Network'.
