In my first blog post for this series I noted my love for the Bylaws of the UCC.  I thought there was a quote in the Bylaws that notes that the General Synod speaks to, and not for, the other settings of the UCC.  Turns out I can't find it in there, but it is still a concept of the UCC.

As we live into covenant in our local church we have an obligation to listen to what Synod is saying.  So, I encourage you all (those who attended General Synod, and those who are just now learning about it) to read the resolutions that Synod passed, study them in your church and live them out together.  There is some very important information for you, and some exciting things for you to do with your church, knowing that there are churches all over the country who are studying the same things and doing the same things.

To get you all started on this, I invite you to First Church Somerville on Sunday, August 7th, directly following morning worship.  We will be having a Synod wrap up meeting to talk a bit about what was passed and a roadmap forward.  Please join us!  Whoever you are and where ever you are on life's journey, you are welcome in Somerville, at noon, on August 7th.
