Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:
Three brief updates – any of which may be appropriate for you to share in your announcements or sermon on Sunday:
Super Saturday was a great success! We were oversubscribed with over 300 registrations. The evaluations were overwhelmingly positive. Thanks to everyone who came as well as those who provided leadership. SAVE THE DATE FOR THE NEXT SUPER SATURDAY IN LUDLOW: MARCH 5, 2011!
VICTORY is a word not often shouted in environmental and climate circles, but yesterday, the Associated Press broke the story that the White House will install solar panels in the spring of 2011. I helped organize an event at Old South Church in early September which hosted Bill McKibben and others who were on their way to Washington DC with an old solar panel that Jimmy Carter had installed on the White House (later removed by Regan). McKibben met with a White House official and made his case – successfully! Panels on one house, even this house, won't save the climate, of course. But they're a powerful symbol to the whole nation about where the future lies. And remember, President Obama is not alone: today, Maldivian President Mohamed Nasheed and a crew from Sungevity will be putting solar panels on the Muliaa'ge, the "White House of the Maldives". It's a trend!

350.org is an international grassroots campaign that aims to mobilize a global climate movement united by a common call to action. By spreading an understanding of the science and a shared vision for a fair policy, we will ensure that the world creates bold and equitable solutions to the climate crisis. 350.org is an independent and not-for-profit project.
What is 350? 350 is the number that leading scientists say is the safe upper limit for carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Scientists measure carbon dioxide in "parts per million" (ppm), so 350ppm is the number humanity needs to get below as soon as possible to avoid runaway climate change. To get there, we need a different kind of PPM- a "people powered movement" that is made of people like you in every corner of the planet.
