Anticipating Climate Activism Among Churches in the Commonwealth

When it comes to creation - the voice of the church matters.  When it comes to climate activism among churches, the unified voice of the church matters. 

Since 2010, the Mass Conference UCC has organized climate activists, clergy and denominational leaders through New England Regional Environmental Ministries (NEREM).  Thousands participate in NEREM’s annual Ecumenical Lenten Carbon Fast.   Six hundred attended NEREM’s April 2013 Climate Revival
 
I want to share with you a blog by my friend, colleague, and fellow climate activist the Rev. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas.  Margaret is an Episcopal priest, writer, and retreat leader who now serves as Missioner for Creation Care in the Diocese of Western Massachusetts.  In the most recent entry to her Reviving Creation blog, Margaret lifts up “four sightings of the Spirit” from all corners of the Commonwealth – including a recent NEREM meeting I hosted.  Recognizing that UCC members and churches are involved in all of them amplifies the importance of our unity around climate activism.  Read Margaret’s blog - Grief, resistance, and joy – and get ready to become active in the coming months as the world anticipates the United Nations Climate summit in Paris in December 2015.
