We’re happy to have welcomed 50 churches this year into United Church Mission (UCM) – the Conference’s new wider church funding system that we’re hoping will, in time, replace Fellowship Dues and OCWM Basic Support. However, in this time of transition, there’s still some confusion about how a church becomes a UCM church.
United Church Mission is entirely optional.
UCM has not been adopted by the Conference on behalf of all its churches and, therefore, will not be applied to churches automatically. Only those churches that have made a decision to opt in and that have informed us of this decision are placed on our UCM list. Unless you’ve told us that your church has decided to opt into United Church Mission, we don’t know.
If you’re unsure about your church’s status in relation to UCM, please contact me at newj@macucc.org or 508-875-5233 ext. 231. I can also assist those churches that wish to consider joining United Church Mission for 2016. More information about United Church Mission can be found at: macucc.org/unitedchurchmission
