How Might You Extend an Offer of Prayer in Your Community? Here Are Resources & Ideas

Share
Have you noticed neighbors and strangers requesting prayers on social media?

Have you ever offered to pray for your non-church going friends?  Some people really treasure prayers even if their own set of beliefs aren’t settled, or they aren’t participating in a church’s life.

This is a tender moment to extend the prayers of the church to our neighbors near and far.  A few of our churches have done so already, printing lawn signs declaring their presence in support and prayer for the community.  In Rehoboth, MA, pastor Sarah Weaver says that signs simply saying “peace be with you” have been posted on members’ lawns.  “People have been slowing down to take pictures," she notes.

How might your church extend an offer of prayer in your community?

Your conference staff has put together a collection of resources in a kit called “Extending Prayer.” There is a guide to help you think through how you might offer this resource in your community, a sample sign and social media posts, prayer resources, and a sample structured prayer.
