An abundance of faith & climate opportunities this week!

A week of sit-ins for divestment, the Green Summit in Lowell, a sustainable churches workshop, a march for a climate justice Springfield & a cutting edge bike ride that is part-faith, part-climate, part-historical reenactment.

As we celebrate the resurrection this Easter Season, and as the land around us springs back to life, so too does the Massachusetts climate movement flourish. For those who feel led by faith to engage on climate change, this week holds an abundance of opportunities:

All week – Harvard Heat Week:
Harvard Heat Week is this week – six days of sitting-in, rallies, and vigils to blockade Massachusetts Hall in support of the university’s fossil fuel divestment. This is an excellent chance to join in solidarity with the students and alumni at Harvard, and to witness the movement in action. Wednesday (Faith Day) and Friday (closing day) will be of particular interest. More info at: harvardheatweek.org.

Wednesday, 4/15 – in the Merrimack Valley:
Have you been looking to get involved in climate justice activism or reduce your personal carbon footprint? Christ Church United in Lowell will be hosting a Green Summit for churches throughout the Merrimack Valley region on Wednesday, April 15th at 6 PM, featuring a variety of organizations engaged on climate. Contact cagep@macucc.org for more information.

Saturday, 4/18 – in the Pioneer Valley:
Massachusetts    Interfaith    Power    &   Light is  presenting  a  Sustainable House of Worship (SHOW) Workshop that will show you how to reduce the environmental impact of your church building. The event will be held  Saturday, April 18 from 8:30 am – 12:30 pm at First Church of Northampton and costs $10. See www.MIPandL.org for more information.

Sunday, 4/19 – in the Greater Boston Area:
The SHOUT Heard ‘Round the World: Revere Our Climate” is an all-ages bike ride for climate awareness along Paul Revere’s original route on Sunday, April 19th, from 10am to 3pm. Find out more and RSVP here: http://shoutroc.org/.

Sunday, 4/19 – in the Pioneer Valley:
Join the Earth Day Walk and Rally for Climate Justice in Springfield on Sunday, April 19th, from 2:30 – 4 PM, a family-friendly, clergy-organized event. The march will begin at Holy Name Parish at 323 Dickinson Street and ending in Forest Park.
